Magic Monday-August 12, 2024-Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

Our store championship, community charity MTG events, the next RCQ, and this week's FNM!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

There’s a special community event happening this week: the Capitol Cube Championship 2024 happening this Saturday the 17th in Crystal City. Drafting a cube is fantastic way to play Magic, and this event benefits So Others Might Eat, a DC area nonprofit that does a lot of good in our community. As of today, there are 9 spots left in the event, and a member of the community is going to match the entries as a donation to SOME, doubling the benefit to the charity. Head over to https://bit.ly/capitolcube2024 to sign up now!

With one RCQ done, it’s time to turn to our next series of exciting events. This Friday will see us drafting Bloomburrow and running a Pauper tournament. Then on August 25th, we’ll be hosting the Store Championship, which features a killer prize for first place: a textless promo version of Urza’s Saga! We’ll be hosting a special Standard FNM on August 23rd to help everyone prepare.

And then on September 1st, we have another Modern RCQ! Wizards of the Coast has said there will be another ban announcement this month, so the reign of Nadu may be coming to an end. If you’re interested in competitive Magic, or just love modern, head over to https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/ and register now for the RCQ or our other Magic events! It's also not too early to think about Duskmourn. Magic’s next set is coming fast, and prereleases start September 20th!

This week’s featured single is As Foretold. And while As Foretold is not the most exciting card, this particular copy features both Borderless Anime Art and Confetti Foiling exclusive to the Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales set. Featuring adorable art by Yuichi Murakami, this card really stands out because of the very rare Confetti Foiling treatment. So if you’re looking to spruce up your deck, pick up this copy over at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/ where all of our MTG singles can be found.

That’s all for this week, see you next Magic Monday!
