Aetherdrift Prerelease Weekend wrap-up, Floyd appreciation, this week's featured single, and more!
It’s just another Magic Monday!
We made it to the finish line! Prerelease weekend has come and gone, which means it’s time to shift into high gear for the Release Day Draft this Friday! We’ll be running four pods of draft to celebrate the full release of Aetherdrift! How will drafting change the limited environment? Sign up at our Events Calendar and find out!
Or if you prefer a more competitive tournament, you can register for our Standard Regional Championship Qualifier on Saturday, February 22nd. We’ll have cash prizes, sweet promos, and the chance to advance to a Regional Championship later this year! Last time we wound up with our maximum possible number of players, so be sure to register early and secure your spot.
Down the road, we’re still planning out our work for AwesomeCon and we could use more volunteers. AwesomeCon is a massive undertaking for the store and we simply couldn’t do it without the support of our community. Anyone who volunteers for a 4 hour shift will get a badge for the event that day, and anyone who works 12 hours total will get passes for the whole weekend. If you’re interested in helping us run our Magic events, staffing our fabulous prize wall, or helping out in some other way, please fill out this form.
This week’s featured single is Armageddon, because who needs friends? Armageddon is a backbreaking card that sees play in some particularly malicious commander decks. For three generic and one white mana, you destroy all lands. That’s it. Normally it’s paired with cards that allow you to recover more quickly than your opponents, but it is one of a handful of cards that can very effectively lock your opponents out of a game of commander for multiple turns, if not the rest of the game. This particular copy is from Unlimited, which makes it especially collectible. You can pick it up at our TCG Player shop alongside our other MTG singles.
While we don’t have any Weekly Winners today, there is someone who deserves a moment at the top of the podium: Floyd! Floyd is the visionary behind many of our Prerelease decorations and he lapped the field with Aetherdrift! Bravo, Floyd!
