Magic Monday-January 15, 2024-Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

The Ravnica Remastered set; our store championship; and a Ravnica: Clue Edition launch party!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

Ravnica Remastered has been a blast so far, but Murders at Karlov Manor is just around the corner.
Good news, everyone! We’ve decided to switch our remaining FNM drafts this month to Ravnica Remastered! That means that this Friday and next, you can join us in revisiting one of Magic’s most popular planes. And alongside this Friday’s draft, we’ll be hosting a Modern tournament. Pauper this past Friday was packed, can Modern players do the same?

And as mentioned, we are creeping ever closer to Murders at Karlov Manor. We’ve got a draft on Friday the 2nd, sealed league the morning of Saturday the 3rd, traditional sealed that afternoon, two-headed giant the morning of Sunday the 4th, and another traditional sealed that afternoon. Registration for all our events, including prereleases, can be found at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/.

Additionally, some extra special events later in the year are already open for registration. First is the Ravnica: Clue Edition launch party on February 25th. Players will use Jumpstart-like boosters to build a 40 card deck and play a 4-player game where the last suspect standing could win some sweet promos and prizes.

The other exciting event is our store championship on March 3rd. The format is standard, and in addition to the promos and prizes provided by Wizards of the Coast, the top finisher will receive a single pack of Magic 30th Anniversary Edition. These packs are very rare and typically go for between $200-$250 online. Registration is already open, so be sure to start building a standard deck.

In another area of interest, our featured single this week is Permission Denied. Just printed in the Jurassic World Collection as part of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan. Permission Denied is offers a potentially powerful effect. In additon to countering a spell, this card can lock out all non-creature spells for a turn, which is why it's seeing so much play in commander already. This copy is near mint foil, features the Jurassic Park Emblem overlaying the art, and can be found at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.
