Updates to our Magic: The Gathering formats, this week's Featured Single, last week's winners, and more!
It’s just another Magic Monday!
Welcome to 2025! It’s shaping up to be a great year for Magic at Labyrinth and can’t wait to share it with you! We’ve already got a surfeit of events coming up. Tomorrow, we have our regular Casual Commander, registration for which goes live at noon. Friday, we’ll be running both Modern and a Bloomburrow draft, as we continue to revisit the best draft sets of 2024.
On Saturday the 18th, we’ll be hosting a Regional Championship Qualifier. This is a Competitive Rules Enforcement Level event, which means we require decklists and follow the Infraction Procedure Guide to run the event. It’s your chance to play slightly more serious Magic, score promos and cash prizes, and win an invitation to a US Regional Championship later in the year. There’s something special about playing more competitively; we hope you’ll bring a Standard deck and give it a shot.
The following day, on Sunday the 19th, we’ll be running our Innistrad Remastered Sealed Preview Event. Players will open 6 packs, build decks, then play 4 rounds of Innistrad Remastered. This is your first chance to get your hands on the set, before it even releases on January 24th. There are special retro-frame Deadeye Navigator promos for those who attend.
And then in February, it’ll be time for Aetherdrift prerelease! Previews might not have started, but registration is open! We’ll be running traditional sealed prereleases, two-headed giant, and sealed league. And with the set zooming towards us quickly, be sure to reserve a space before they fill up.
Lastly, we’re still looking for more volunteers to help us with Magic at AwesomeCon. If you’re interested please fill out this brief questionnaire located here..
Preorders for both Aetherdrift and Innistrad Remastered are open. Collector Boosters and Bundles always seem to go quickly, and this time around there’s a special Finish Line Bundle to grab. So whether you’re planning to prerelease at home, want to pick up special alternate art cards, or just like the nifty boxes that come in bundles, head over to our online store and lock in your preorders.
This week’s featured single is Cryptolith Rite. A potentially potent card in Commander, Cryptolith Rite turns all of your creatures into mana dorks. What distinguishes this particular copy, however, is that isn’t just a foil copy, it’s stamped with the date of the Prerelease for Shadows over Innistrad, indicating that this is a prerelease promo. Even rarer than foils, prerelease promos can only be found in prerelease packs, and usually at a rate of one promo per pack. This makes prerelease promos considerably more collectible. If you want to pick up this Cryptolith Rite, or any of our other MtG singles, head over to our TCG Player store and check out our collection. And if you want to sell us your cards, email us at [email protected] to make an appointment.
