Magic Monday-July 17, 2023-Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

Learn about upcoming Friday Night Magic events, plus our store championship for Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, which is rapidly approaching! We will have some sweet promos!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

First of all, congratulations to Isa Ellis for going undefeated in Pauper at Friday Night Magic as well as to Richard Fried and Evan Teng for going undefeated in The Lord of the Rings (LotR) draft!

Our store championship for Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth is rapidly approaching! Make sure to snag your spot for your chance at some sweet promos including Gifted Aetherborn, Eidolon of the Great Revel, and Saruman of Many Colors. And as a special treat, we’re able to give out Set Boosters as prize packs for this event. You can register at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/.

In the meantime, we’re drafting March of the Machine this Friday and hosting our Modern Tournament at Friday Night Magic. And our Commander Masters events on July 29th and August 5th are open for sign ups as well. Spoilers for Commander Masters are in full swing, and we’ve seen some pretty potent reprints. If you can’t join us for one of our events for the set, you can pre-order sealed product at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/games/collectible-card-games/magic-the-gathering/commander-masters/.

This week’s featured card (shown above) is Aluren, from Tempest. Aluren is actually the namesake for a whole archetype in Legacy, but this card is mostly known for its potency in Commander. For just two generic and two green mana, you get an enchantment that lets you (and your opponents) cast three mana creatures as though they had flash and without paying their mana cost. We’re lucky enough to have two copies graded at moderately played, but they each could easily be considered lightly played. You can pick up Aluren, and all of our singles at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.

That’s all for this week. See you next Magic Monday!
