Magic Monday-June 17, 2024-Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

Modern tournaments, selling MH3 cards, and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

MH3 appears to have thoroughly shaken up Modern. New decks like Ruby Storm and Bant Nadu are already making an impact. This week you get the chance to put your new brews to the test! This Friday and next we’ll be hosting outsized Modern tournaments, where up to 28 players will battle it out with the latest cards from Modern Horizons 3. All of this leads to our Master of Modern tournament on June 29th where first place will take home a box of Modern Horizons 3 play boosters.

On the draft front, we’ll be doing a special limited seating draft of Mystery Booster Convention Edition draft this Friday. Mystery Booster Convention Edition is a fun, chaotic draft environment which includes more than 1600 reprints and special “Playtest” cards that are silly subversions of your typical Magic cards. We have fewer than 16 spots left, so sign up soon.

The last big event in June will be the Magic Presents: Pride event on June 30th. A Commander event where every commander has Partner means you can brew up almost unimaginable decks to play with. And for playing in the event, you’ll receive a special limited edition art print of Chandra. You can sign up for all our magic events at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/.

This week’s featured single is a Prerelease Foil copy of Terror of the Peaks from its original printing in Core Set 2021. Terror of the Peaks was recently reprinted in Outlaws of Thunder Junction and is seeing some play in Gruul Ramp decks. But this card is primarily used as a huge threat in Commander where it functions well in Dragon decks, or any deck that puts big, beefy creatures into play. As this is an original prerelease copy, it’s a bit more collectible than most. You can find it at https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/, our Singles store front.

In other MTG singles news, as of this Friday we’ll officially be buying MH3 cards. So if you’ve been sitting on some sweet pulls that you’d like to trade in, reach out to [email protected] and set up an appointment.

That’s all for this week, see you next Magic Monday!
