The release day for Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth; an upcoming July celebration of Magic event that is great for new players; and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

This past weekend was both Prerelease for Lord of the Rings in the store as well as at AwesomeCon. A tremendous thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and players who helped make all of our events this weekend a success!


But just because prerelease is over doesn’t mean that the fun of the new set is. Tomorrow night will be the first Commander Night since the new preconstructed decks dropped so it’s a great time to test them out. As always, no registration is required for Commander Night, which runs from 6-10pm. And this Friday we’ll be hosting a release-day Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Draft! You can now register for this Friday’s draft.


And further Lord of the Rings events are coming. On July 8th, we’ll be hosting a special celebration of Magic event with lots of goodies for players who participate and register using a Wizards Account email address. Players will buy 2 packs of Jumpstart, then play three casual rounds of head to head play. For doing so, players will receive a special LotR themed pre-constructed deck on Arena, a Bring-a-Friend promo Thought Vessel for bringing a friend to play, and for the first 30 players to register a special set of collectible six-sided dice!


For this week’s featured single, we’re highlighting a foil copy of Steely Resolve from Onslaught (shown above). For just one and a green mana, you get an enchantment that gives shroud to the creature type of your choice. Hugely powerful in Commander tribal decks, the card also sees fringe play in Legacy Lands decks. The card has not yet been reprinted, which also makes this foil version highly collectible.
