Bloomburrow prerelease events are open for registration, the local Capitol Cube Championship 2024, and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

It’s the first day of Labyrinth’s summer camps! It’s a delight to have little ones playing and learning in the store! But as a reminder to our players: this means the play space will not be available before 6:00pm prior to events like Commander or FNM that take place during the week.

We’re just days away from the Master of Modern tournament, our officially unofficial store championship for Modern Horizons 3 taking place this Saturday, June 29th. In addition to store credit, first place will receive a box of Modern Horizons 3 play boosters. So, sign up now and bring your best deck on Saturday!

We also have plenty of other fun lined up this weekend for magic players. On Friday we’ll be running both modern and a special throwback draft: Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. NEO is one of the most popular formats of the past couple of years and it should be a fun time.

And, on Sunday, June 30th, we’ll be hosting Magic Presents: Pride. This is a commander event where all commanders have Partner, allowing for some wild combinations and brews. For participating you receive a special foil art print of Chandra, and it should be a great way to end Pride month.

Although it feels like MH3 just arrived, it’s time to start thinking about Bloomburrow. Prerelease runs July 26th-28th. We’ll be running a draft, sealed events, sealed league, and two-headed giant that weekend. In addition to all our wonderful events, there’s also an event happening in the local Magic community that we’d like to highlight. On Saturday, August 17, the CapitolCube Championship 2024 is taking place in Crystal City. 64 players will battle it out to be crowned the DC Cube Champion. All proceeds from the event will go to So Others Might Eat, a wonderful cause benefiting those in our community. This week’s featured single is Ugin’s Labyrinth from Modern Horizons 3. This particular copy is a near mint borderless foil copy, which makes it quite collectible. Ugin’s Labyrinth is already seeing a decent amount of play in both Commander and Modern, where it plays an important role in Eldrazi, Tron, and Through the Breach decks. By exiling a 7+ cost colorless spell from your hand when you play it, you get a land that taps for two colorless mana. You can return the exiled spell at any time by tapping Ugin’s Labyrinth, which means you even get the ancillary benefit of protecting a potential win condition from hand disruption early.
