Tarkir: Dragonstorm Prerelease Events, Awesome Con events, Single of the Week, and more -- all at Labyrinth Games!
It’s just another Magic Monday!
We’re just days away from the prerelease of Tarkir: Dragonstorm! That means we’re also just days away from Awesome Con! This might be the busiest weekend of the year for Magic at Labyrinth. We’re super excited to host everyone both at the convention and the store for some dragon-filled gameplay!
We do still have spots open in some of the events in our Tarkir: Dragonstorm prerelease weekend. You can find them all at Magic Events Calendar, but there are a few worth highlighting.
At both Awesome Con and at Labyrinth, we’ll be running Sealed League-style events. In these, rather than using prerelease kits, you use play boosters to build 30-card decks. A normal prerelease has timed rounds, but in a league-style event you’ll play fast, casual games against opponents as soon as they’re available. It’s great for newer players and you still get the chance to earn prizes.
Also, on Sunday at Awesome Con, we’re running a Bulk & Build. We’re bringing our bulk to the convention, and players will be able to build 40-card decks out of anything they find, plus basic lands. The event is league-style so players will have to balance out the time they spend building their decks against the amount of time they spend playing matches to earn tickets to our fabulous Prize Wall.
Our Prize Wall is loaded with packs, Secret Lairs, and even Uncut Sheets of Magic Cards. Playing in any event earns you prize tickets, which you redeem at the Prize Wall. Even just playing in the Command Zone can earn you tickets. Success at our events will ensure you take home some of these much-coveted prizes!
This week’s featured single is Equilibrium. Originally printed in 7th Edition, Equilibrium sees some fringe play in Commander. This card, however, features a special “Future Sight” treatment, which is only available in packs of Mystery Booster 2. This, along with the card being foil, significantly boosts its collectability. You can only find cards like these in the secondary market like through our TCG Player Pro site, or by attending a convention like Awesome Con, where we’ll be giving out MB2 packs at our prize wall to players who participate in events at the convention!
That’s all for this week! See you next Magic Monday!
