Modern Horizons 3 is coming soon! Prereleases are on June 7th, 8th, and 9th and are open for registration. And while there is no official Store Championship for Modern Horizons 3, we are pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting a special “Master of Modern Tournament” on June 29th. Up to 44 players will compete for the title of Master of Modern, as well as store credit and a box of MH3 play boosters. And to prepare for that tournament we’ll be running two weeks of outsized Modern FNMs for up to 28 players. Registration for Master of Modern is already open, and you can find it at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/ along side our other Magic events. And to prepare for that tournament we’ll be running two weeks of outsized Modern FNMs for up to 28 players.

 

Speaking of our other Magic events, we have some special drafts coming up. On May 31st, we’ll be running a “Dude, Where’s My Dad?” draft. Players will each receive one pack of Wilds of Eldraine, one pack of Murders at Karlov Manor, and a pack of Outlaws of Thunder Junction, as we follow the story of Kellan’s search for his father that culminated in OTJ. It’s a pseudo-chaos draft that should be a bunch of fun.

 

And then in June we have two more special drafts. On June 21st we’ll be hosting a Mystery Booster Convention Edition draft, which is always a good time. And the following Friday, on the 28th, we’ll be hosting one of the most popular draft formats of the last few years: Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Both of these drafts will be limited to 16 players, so be sure to grab your spot early. The final event to talk about today is the Magic Presents: Pride event on June 30th. For this special event, all Commanders have Partner! You can never have more than two cards in the command zone, but this opens up limitless possibilities for new brews and decks. And for playing in the vent, you’ll receive some yet unspecified art prints. Spots are filling up quickly, so secure your spot soon.

 

In other news, changes are coming to Casual Commander on Tuesdays. Starting on May 21st, it will cost $5 to sit down and play on Tuesday. We’ll be setting up a card reader in the back of the store where you register, and you’ll pay the entry fee there. When you do, you’ll receive a complimentary pack of a recent set. The goal is to have the whole process streamlined before June 24th, when our afternoon summer camps begin. At that point the play space will not be available for Commander until 6:00pm.
