Magic Monday - November 18, 2024 - Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

Pre-holiday Friday Night Magic, this week's Featured Single, last week's winners, and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

This week is the last FNM before Thanksgiving! So, make sure to swing by the store for some card slinging before your holiday. We’ll be hosting both a Pauper constructed tournament as well as a Foundations draft. Registration for both events, as well as all our other Magic events, is live at our website right now. And while we know many of you will be visiting loved ones over Thanksgiving, we will be running our normal slate of events on Black Friday.

It may feel a way off, but it’s never too early to register for our Store Championship on December 15th. There are some sweet promo cards for the Store Championship this time around, including a Chromatic Sphere for participating, Reality Smasher for the top eight finishers, and a full-art textless Void Winnower for our store champion. To help prepare for the event, we will be running a Standard Showdown on the Friday before the championship.

This week’s featured single is Sword of Fire and Ice as printed as one of the Special Guests in Bloomburrow. Sword of Fire and Ice sees play in essentially one Modern deck but is otherwise a classic Commander card. For three generic mana you get an equipment that gives a creature +2/+2, protection from red and from blue, and lets you draw card and Shock something whenever the equipped creature deals combat damage to a player. Perhaps the most popular of the “Sword of” cycle, this copy features beautiful art to match the aesthetic of Bloomburrow. This newest printing of the card is also the least expensive, so it’s perfect for those of you looking to deck build on a budget. You can pick up this copy at our TCG Player site today.

As a reminder, we will be buying singles from Foundations as of this Friday, and we’re always looking for cards worth at least $1.00. If you’re at all interested in turning your sweet pulls into cash or store credit, email us at [email protected] and we can set up an appointment.

Congratulations to Mark Donaldson, Robin G, Elliott Jones, and Nicolai Dolinar, our Foundations release day champions! What a turnout!

That's all for this week! See you next Magic Monday!
