Dino drafts, standard tournaments and more!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

Lost Caverns of Ixalan is now well and truly here! It’s time to find out how the set is going to affect all of your favorite formats. You can sign up for this week’s events, and all of our Magic events at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/.

With Thanksgiving being this week, a lot of people will be out of town. But for those of you who stick around, we’ll be hosting a Lost Caverns of Ixalan draft as well as a modern tournament. Once we get to December, we’ll have some very exciting events.

All December long, we’ll be hosting Dino-Sized drafts! In a Dino-Sized draft, you open four packs instead of three. You still build a 40-card minimum deck, but with a deeper pool, your deck can be that much more powerful. The first Dino-Sized draft will be Lost Caverns of Ixalan on December 1st.

And for the first two Fridays of December, Standard will be returning to Labyrinth! With our Store Championship on December 10th being Standard, we want to give everyone a few weeks to try out their decks. LCI seems like it might have really shaken things up in Standard, and it’s an exciting time to try new builds.

Meanwhile, this week’s featured single is a foil Ancient Tomb, from the Zendikar Expeditions. This land can be one of the most powerful ramp cards in any deck, and it sees play in Legacy, Vintage, and Commander. Generating two mana in exchange for just two life is extremely efficient. This particular copy is from the Zendikar Expeiditions set, which was the first attempt at what would become the Masterpiece series, where cards are given a plane-specific treatment in an alternate frame. Appearing in a small percentage of packs from the Battle for Zendikar block, Zendikar Expeditions are highly collectible, and Ancient Tomb doubly so.
