Magic Monday-October 30, 2023-Labyrinth's Latest Magic: The Gathering News

Lost Caverns of Ixalan spoilers; our Sealed League; and a featured card!

It’s just another Magic Monday!

Spooky season is in full swing, and so is Lost Caverns of Ixalan spoiler season! The set looks sweet and we still have space in our LCI prereleases. You can sign up for them, including our special Sealed League Saturday morning prerelease, at https://www.labyrinthdc.com/magic-events/.

But what is Sealed League Prelease? Well, instead of building a 40 card deck out 6 packs, you build a 30 card deck out of 3 packs. And instead of a set number Swiss rounds of tournament play, you can jam as many games as you like with your deck. And after every 2 losses you can buy a new pack to improve or even rebuild your deck. It’s a fast, fun, and casual way to try out the new set. It’ll run the morning of Saturday, November 11th from 10:30am until 1:00pm. We’ll also have a draft prerelease Friday November 10th, traditional sealed prereleases in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday, and a Two-Headed Giant event Sunday morning. Prerelease is always a blast and we hope to see you all there!

In the interim, it’s time to say goodbye to Wilds of Eldraine this Friday with our farewell draft. That same night, we’ll also be hosting a Pauper tournament. And tomorrow night, for Halloween, we’ll have a special treat for players at our weekly Tuesday Night Casual Commander.

This week’s featured single is a lightly played foil Judge promo version of Edgar Markov. Edgar Markov is arguably the most powerful commander printed in a preconstructed commander deck, generating vampires without ever being cast. What makes this copy particularly interesting is the fact that it’s a judge promo. Since 1998, Wizards of the Coast has recognized the special importance of judges to Magic: the Gathering by creating special printings of cards for them. The print runs of these judge promos are very limited, which makes them very collectible. You can find this copy of Edgar Markov, as well as several other judge promos at our singles webstore: https://labyrinthgameshop.tcgplayerpro.com/.

That’s all for this week, see you next Magic Monday!
