Come for the cardboard. Stay for the serenity... and maybe some chaos.
Today’s headline: Tokaido, the beautiful game about crossing the "East sea road" of Japan, is back—and it brought upgrades! The stunning new edition from Stonemaier Games is available now for early brick-and-mortar release, and yes, it includes a solo mode for all you travelers seeking a peaceful journey without needing to make polite conversation. We’ve got the full setup: the base game, the delightfully clinky Tokaido Coins, and the Solo Pack, which lets you add the solo mode to the older edition (retro, but make it better). Please note: We cannot ship this game until the full release on May 9th, but it is available for in store purchase today!
Also fresh on our shelves is Faraway: People from Below, a mini expansion to one of our team’s favorite quick and clever card games. Faraway is about exploring a mysterious land with a tricky scoring mechanic at the end — this new expansion adds quirky new characters and twists that keep things surprising and fun every time you play.
Speaking of fresh...
⚡️ Just in – Pokémon! (In-store only, not online!)
- ex League Battle Deck: Dragapult
- Prismatic Evolutions Accessory Pouch Special Collection
- Lillie Premium Tournament Collection
Quantities are very limited, and this stuff tends to vanish faster than a Gastly in sunlight. If you want it, don’t wait.
Now back to the rest of this week’s delightful chaos:
- Solo Hero Series: Unstoppable – A tactical solo game where you take on waves of enemies with asymmetric powers and big boss energy. If you like clever puzzles, solo strategy, and taking names, this one’s a must.
- Critter Kitchen – It’s a restaurant run by woodland creatures, where raccoons cook and otters wash dishes. This worker placement game is as charming as it is strategic, with beautifully illustrated components and satisfying combos.
- Great Western Trail: El Paso – The newest entry in the GWT series adds new mechanics and challenges for experienced cowherders. Wrangle your herd, navigate hazards, and ship your cattle like a true Texan tycoon.
- Find Finley – A delightful spatial logic puzzle from Fat Brain Toys where kids (and adults!) try to find where the sneaky Finley is hiding. Bright, tactile, and sneakily educational.
- MTG Tarkir: Dragonstorm Inspired Ultimatum Playmat– A stunning accessory for your next Magic battle, featuring breathtaking design that’s both beautiful and intimidating. (Perfect combo.)
For the builders (In store only):
- Magna-Tiles Dino Set (5-piece) – Tiny set, huge dino drama.
- Magna-Tiles Castle Set (25-piece) – Turrets, towers, and open-ended engineering fun.
Back in stock:
- Wondrous Creatures – A storytelling exploration game that’s like Pokémon meets adventure journaling. It’s lovely.
- Gargantuan Beasts Expansion – More giant monsters, more adventures.
- Crew Set Expansion – New companions for your travels.
- Upgraded Components – Because your tiny cardboard firefly deserves to shine.
- Courtisans – A fast-paced bluffing game of influence and deduction with gorgeous art and just the right amount of drama. Perfect for fans of Love Letter or Coup. We played this on Tuesday, and everyone loved it!
